Anna Taylor
Yoga Therapist & Mindfulness Teacher · Teacher Trainer · AuthorAnna weaves mindfulness and compassion throughout her yoga offerings. Her teaching style enables practice to be a space for connection and exploration rather than performance or perfectionism. Through both movement and stillness, she aims to support people in finding clearer minds, calmer bodies and kinder hearts.
Coming home to yourself
Approach
As a Yoga Therapist and Mindfulness & Compassion tutor, Anna brings a therapeutic lens to everything she teaches. She believes yoga and meditation are for everybody, and guides students to practise with presence — meeting their own, often changing, needs with compassion rather than judgement. It is this quality of attention that turns the mat into a place of refuge: somewhere to be cared for and connected, rather than somewhere to perform.
"In a world full of stimulation and distraction, our practice offers precious space to come home to ourselves — to gently meet, hold space for, and tend to what we find."
Early years
Anna came to yoga in her twenties, working as an Events Manager in the charity sector. Tense and stretched thin by competing deadlines, she went to her first class simply hoping to feel calmer — and left lighter and brighter than she'd expected. After trying several styles, it was a Sivananda teacher who offered the calm, kind space she'd been looking for; weekly classes soon became a daily practice, and something in her began, slowly, to shift. In 2008 she travelled to India for her first teacher training with Sivananda Yoga, and began teaching in London soon after. A pull towards greater creativity led her to train in Vinyasa Flow with Claire Missingham — before the mindful, therapeutic side of the practice drew her back, and she trained as a Yoga Therapist with Yoga Campus and as a Mindfulness & Compassion Teacher with MindfulnessUK.
Training & influences
Anna's teaching carries the imprint of every lineage she's studied. Her early years in Sivananda yoga instilled the discipline of a daily practice, on and off the mat; her training in Vinyasa Flow brought a creative edge. As mindfulness moved to the centre of her work, her teaching slowed — leaving room for students to tune into a pose or practice rather than simply move through it. She continues to be shaped by teachers including Judith Lasater (Restorative Yoga), Norman Blair (Yin Yoga), and voices from the wider Buddhist and compassion traditions such as Tara Brach and Kristin Neff.
Teaching today
Anna recently moved from London to Norfolk, and continues to teach classes, courses, workshops and retreats both in person in London and live online, alongside her On Demand Library. Her book, Weaving Mindfulness and Compassion into Yoga Teaching (Singing Dragon, 2025), sits alongside CPD programmes she's now developing from its themes. She's equally committed to the wellbeing of teachers as of students — mentoring yoga and mindfulness teachers, running Sustainability & Self-Care for Yoga Teachers workshops with Norman Blair, and supervising trainee Yoga Therapists as a Case Study Supervisor. She sits on the teaching faculty for a number of trainings, delivering modules on Restorative Yoga, Mindful & Compassionate Yoga, and Self-Care for Yoga Teachers.
