Overview

The meditative heart of yoga

Yoga Nidra is sometimes considered the meditative heart of yoga, a practice that meets you in the threshold between waking and sleeping, where the nervous system calms, the mind quiets, and something deeper has space to be heard. Over three days, this course takes you into that space as a practitioner and gives you the grounding to guide others into it as a teacher. Offering Yoga Nidra is easy to integrate into your classes and can help bring depth and variety to what you already teach. You can include Yoga Nidra for example at the end of a Yin or Dynamic Flow class. It also works really well in a workplace setting since no special equipment or clothes are needed. A 30-minute lunch Nidra for example is a great concept.

The training covers the history, philosophy and science of Yoga Nidra, the main techniques and modern schools, and the practical craft of writing scripts. You'll move between theory, experiential practice, and supported teaching practice, with support from teachers who have trained over 4,000 teachers to teach this practice.

Our approach is non–dogmatic and student–centred. There is no single right way to teach Yoga Nidra, and no test at the end. The emphasis throughout is on finding your own authentic voice and the confidence to share this practice in a way that resonates with you. Our aim is to help you gain an understanding and knowledge that you can apply to each individual student depending on their needs. You are not expected to perform, but rather to learn and explore.

Take this as a stand–alone training or count it as an optional module on the 300–hour programme.

“This course was the perfect balance of clear information, practice, and gentle humour. Melanie and Jennie made me feel so welcome and supported throughout"

“This course was INCREDIBLE. I was hoping it would be good but this far exceeded what I hoped for. The teachers were so knowledgeable, very welcoming and creating space for everyone. The mix of receiving nidras, learning about them and thinking about how we can practically build this into our business, was the perfect mix.”

Yoga Nidra Trainee

“I am not a yoga teacher but found the depth of knowledge above and beyond what I could have hoped for. It was also a very accessible and nurturing learning environment, Jennie and Melanie are really lovely humans and very approachable, you felt able to contribute as little or as much as you wanted, with no pressure. I also appreciated the humour they brought to the course!!”
